The science of Ayurveda has been around for thousands of year. ‘In India beauty is about adopting a 360-degree approach, it is about achieving balance and there is a strong emphasis placed on self-care and self-love. For centuries India have been utilising local ingredients for skincare and wellbeing purposes, as well as practicing Ayurveda, an ancient holistic medical practice that influences everything from how we live to what we eat. Yoga, meditation, and mindfulness are of equal consideration in creating balance, and doshas are taken seriously, when understanding how to take better care of yourself.’

A client based in India was looking to create an Indian inspired brand targeted at the Western market that looks luxurious, is available at accessible price points and can be used daily.

THE ISSUE
She wanted to create a luxurious beauty brand targeting a broad customer base. She was inspired by several brands in the marketplace and wanted a brand that was distinctive and contemporary that would appeal to value and affluent consumers, and that could be used daily.

OUR APPROACH AND RESULTS
India was a new marketplace for our team, so we started by conducting market research of the Indian beauty marketplace along with a competitor analysis of leading Indian skincare brands, and how they are performing. We discovered that many Indian ingredients are used by brands across the globe and there is a large influx of Indian brands being launched across Canada, America, and the UK, who have also dipped their toes into the market, introducing age old techniques of Ayurveda to consumers, making this more mainstream. We presented our findings and recommendations on products for her to tap into.
